Each site was surveyed on separate days monthly for 3hrs per survey (11:00h-14:00h) during the main native bee activity season (September – March) (Prendergast, pers. obs.) to be able to capture the phenology of native bees. Sites were surveyed by Kit Prendergast, native bee ecologist, to ensure sweepnetting was performed by an experienced surveyor. A single surveyor was used to prevent inter-observer bias. Sweepnetting was selected as this method, when conducted by those with experience, captures the greatest abundance and diversity of native bees, especially in natural habitat types (Prendergast & Hogendoorn, 2020; Prendergast et al., 2020). High-quality stacking photographs of each sex of all species/morphospecies was taken with a photographic microscope and imaging software (Passport2, Helicon Focus, Adobe Photoshop 2020).
